Snippets

Learn Powershell with Microsoft Learn

More than 10 years ago the help information on Microsofts own websites regarding PowerShell was terribly weak and – lets say „empty“. Many PowerShell MVP´s used this lack of information to build documentation on their blogs and websites. Over the years, Microsoft started to integrate this content to their learn websites. Meanwhile learn.microsoft.com has a comprehensive collection of topics around PowerShell. If you want to get a quick overview and a guide where to start, read Harm Veenstras blog on „Learning PowerShell on Microsoft Learn“. Link

Stop beeing generous with Strict Mode

When flexibility meets bugs, PowerShell can be quite annoying. By default PowerShell excuses a lot with having Strict-mode turned off. this is easy but may lead to errors you dont understand. Read Harm Veenstras (again) blog on strict mode, what it does and how to use it. Link

Create a Onedrive storage report

I guess a lot of people have a onedrive for personal storage out there (so do i). If you want to get a better understanding on the storage consumption of onedrive, read Vasil Michevs blog on his approach to it with PowerShell. Link

Monitor Azure resources on their retiring state

Azure services come and go, sometimes faster that you think. If you dont want to fall into the „migrate in 90 days trap“ start monitoring your azure services, by reading Adam Bertrams blog. Link

Have a good time scripting and automating / R.
